Opening Conference of the 3rd Florence Vis Pre Moot

The School of Law of the University of Florence will host the Opening Conference of the 3rd Florence Vis Pre Moot at Villa Ruspoli (Piazza dell’Indipendenza 9, Florence).

The event officially inaugurates the third edition of the Florence Vis Pre Moot, which has become an established appointment within the landscape of international commercial arbitration competitions and is connected to the Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot. The conference provides an opportunity for dialogue between academia and legal practice, offering students and participants the chance to engage with key issues in international arbitration and commercial dispute resolution.

The opening remarks will be delivered by Professor Alessandro Simoni, Dean of the School of Law; Professor Alessandra De Luca, Scientific Supervisor of the Florence International Arbitration Program; and Professor Alessandro Luciano, Associate Professor of International Business Law.

Greetings from the sponsors will follow, with contributions from Roberto Calabresi (Managing Partner, SLCG), Michael McIlwrath (CEO, MDisputes), and Jacopo Monaci Naldini (Founder, JMU Law Firm), reflecting the close collaboration between the University and leading practitioners in the field.

The conference will continue with the ICC YAAF session entitled “From Paper to Practice: A Live Debate on This Year’s Vis Moot Case” (5:00–6:30 p.m.), dedicated to a practical discussion of the case at the center of this year’s competition.

The event forms part of the School’s broader commitment to internationalization and experiential learning, reinforcing its engagement in fostering dialogue between academic study and professional practice within a global context.
