The Course will be on Linguistics: a discipline which will be dealt with under its many aspects (Structural, Functional, Generative, Applicative, Acquisitional). The course will deal also with the different variation of the Italian Language. The Course will analyze the various charactaristics of Lexicon, Phonology, Morphosyntax; the differences between written and spoken Language; the passive and active abilities; the structural characteristics of a text; the different typologies of texts.

To get to know the structure of the Italian Language, considered as a whole system of signs; to get to know its functioning mechanism, related to both oral and written expressions; to search the explanation of linguistic phenomena in reference to the rules of the italian morphosyntax; to deal with the problems related to the learining of the Italian Language (L2); to debate the likely methods of teaching of Italian as a second language, within the study of Italian as a specific discipline.

This course offers students a knowledge of
the primary aspects and moments in the history of the Italian
language (from its origins to today), of
varieties (geographical, social and situational)
of the Italian linguistic repertoire and of the
structures of both contemporary written and
spoken Italian. Furthermore, the course will
provide students with the knowledge and the
necessary tools for the study and instruction
of the Italian language (vocabulary, grammar
as well as IT resources).

Each Unit will include brainstorming activity and brief checks of understanding of the theory explained during the Unit; feedback of the competence regarding the production of a written text.

Lectures using PowerPoint and other
documents. Students will be required to
actively participate in workshops and will be
responsible for creating a teaching proposal
for each topic discussed during each
workshop.

The exam will be taken as a written test with multiple choice questions and open questions abaut the program..

Written exam with 10 open questions
relating to the course programme and
testing linguistic-grammatical as well historical knowledge. Exam questions have
the additional purpose of assessing writing
skills. The score of the written test is based
on a total of individual marks given for each
question (from 0 to 3 points for each
question). The supplementary oral exam aims
to address possible gaps found in the written
portion of the exam, in addition to verifying
the active competency of functional speaking
skills.

The first part of the course will be dedicated
to illustrating primary
aspects and moments in the formation and
spread of Italian from a historical perspective
(from ancient to modern times), as well as
descriptions of geographical, social and
situational varieties of Italian. The second
part will be dedicated to the structural
components of Italian (phonology,
morphology, syntax, lexis), and to the
differences between written and spoken
language and the presentation of tools, such
as vocabulary, grammar and other useful
resources for teaching Italian, specifically in
primary school.
