The course aims to provide advanced knowledge on the theoretical aspects and t psychometric characteristics of the most significant instruments to detect nature and development of the attachment bonds in the early phases of life, childhood, adolescence and adulthood.
Applying knowledge and understanding.
The course will provide students with the specialized skills, theoretical and methodological, required to consciously use within the developmental-clinical and research tools, methods and techniques to detect the development and characteristics of the attachment bonds over the life span.
Making judgments.
Particular emphasis will be paid to develop in students a critical attitude and to teach them to judge the strengths and limitations of the different methods and tools presented.
Communication skills.
The course will provide students with the knowledge necessary to acquire a specific, specialized vocabulary to communicate and argue the concepts studied.

The attachment bonds during early childhood, with particular reference to clinical orientation techniques, such as the Infant Observation of Esther Bick and the Strange Situation Mary Ainsworth and colleagues. In relation to these tecniques, the focus will be on the theoretical bases, characteristics of different settings, criteria of coding and data processing. The psychometric scales for measuring the quality of attachment within the social networks: the Network of Relationships Inventory. The self-report questionnaires for the detection of attachment to parents and peers: the Inventory of Parent and Peer Attachment. The projective techniques to detect the styles of attachment in childhood: the Separation Anxiety Test. The scales for measuring the quality of sibling relationships in adulthood: the Adult Sibling Relationship Questionnaire.
