P. Marcellini, C. Sbordone, "Elementi di calcolo. Versione semplificata per i nuovi corsi di laurea" and its corresponding exercise book
Learning Objectives
The objectives are: to apply abstract mathematical concepts to concrete situations. In particular: to become familiar with both numerical, literal and vector calculations. Handling functions and knowing how to geometrically interpret a graph, the variation of a function and ilts area. Elements of statistics: position and dispersion indices, data representation and graphical interpretations.
Prerequisites
Basic notions of arithmetic and algebra
Teaching Methods
Lectures and both individual and collective exercises
Type of Assessment
The exam includes a written exercise test and an oral test.
Additional tests may be scheduled in progress.
Course program
This is the preventive program. For the program actually carried out, the register of lessons on moodle will prevail.
Algebra of vectors and complex numbers.
Functions of one real variable: differential and integral calculus, optimization. Basic trigonometric functions (sinx, cosx, tgx) and their inverse functions; exponential and logarithm.
Descriptive statistics: indices of position and dispersion, representation and interpretation of data. The Gaussian function: description, interpretation, calculation.
