Functions and Composition of the Council
Functions
The following responsibilities are vested in the School Council:
- issuing opinions, with regard to its teaching coordination functions, on proposals approved by the Department Councils concerning the establishment, activation (including at decentralised locations or within the framework of international agreements), modification, and discontinuation of degree programmes, and forwarding the relevant proposals to the Academic Senate and the Board of Directors;
- coordinating the annual plan of teaching activities proposed by the Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree Programme Boards and approved by the relevant Departments, pursuant to Article 28, paragraph 1, letter (i), of the University Statute;
- outlining the teaching needs and any issues related to the coverage of courses offered within the degree programmes coordinated by the School, taking into account the guidelines set out in the development plans of the degree programmes, for the purposes set forth in Article 28, paragraph 1, letter (a), of the University Statute; the implementing provisions of this point are defined by resolution of the Academic Senate and the Board of Directors;
- coordinating and streamlining the teaching activities of Bachelor’s and Master’s degree programmes and other educational activities assigned to the School, including any Specialisation Schools coordinated by it;
- managing shared teaching services, in accordance with Article 9 of these Regulations;
- promoting and coordinating activities and initiatives relating to the quality of teaching;
- submitting proposals to the Academic Senate concerning the University Teaching Regulations, on the basis of resolutions adopted by the proposing Department Councils;
- proposing, to be approved by an absolute majority of its members, the internal regulations of the School, pursuant to Articles 4, 30(4), and 50 of the University Statute;
- exercising any other responsibilities assigned to the Schools by law or by the University Statute.
