OST (Open Space Technology) is a method that facilitates participation and inclusion in design.
It has spread on the basis of the principle “if you try it, you'll do it again”, and in fact, the School of Law is now in its third edition of this method, which is now included in the 2023-2027 Project of Excellence of the Department of Legal Sciences with reference to teaching.
During the meetings, there are no guest speakers, predefined programmes or a predetermined organisation.
In an initial plenary session, participants learn how to create their own forum: the facilitator simply presents the general theme and indicates an empty notice board that represents the framework for the work to be constructed at that moment.
Anyone wishing to propose a topic in which they are interested posts the title of the topic on the notice board until the board is full with all the proposals. After consulting the various topics on the board, participants decide which design group to join. The groups move to the available classrooms, discuss and draw up a report which, together with those of the other groups, forms the instant end-of-work report, which is then distributed to all participants.
At the end of the day, there is a closing session. Everything is based on the principle of informality."
