Charter of Rights and Duties of Students
The School of Law believes in constant, open and effective dialogue between the student community and individual students with teachers and teaching facilities.
Every student, at any time during their university career, may express suggestions and criticisms, report cases in which they believe that the rights recognised by the Student Charter have not been respected or that the rules governing university life have been violated.
Below are the tools available to anyone who wishes to submit proposals, requests or complaints to the School, or simply provide information that may be useful for improving the quality of the services provided.
The first channel of communication is the student representatives.
Student representatives participate in the governing and management bodies of the School and the Department and, in particular, in the Joint Teacher-Student Committee, which is responsible for monitoring and improving the educational offer, the quality of teaching and student services.
In addition to this essential role, the elected representatives are a valuable point of reference for all students for information and clarification, and to represent problems that are not purely individual or that the person concerned does not yet feel able to represent in person.
Here is a list of the current student representatives, with their email addresses.
Those who prefer to communicate directly with the School, starting from the 2024/2025 academic year, can do so via two dedicated email addresses:
The School guarantees the absolute confidentiality of the information received in the context of a complaint, which will not be disclosed to third parties without the prior consent of the person concerned.
With regard to complaints, certain rules must be observed:
Upon receipt of the complaint by the School, the student will be summoned for an interview, preferably in person (except in cases of impossibility).
Following the interview, and if this has not led to a solution to the problem raised, the School will inform the person concerned of the procedure deemed appropriate for dealing with the complaint, as well as the institutional parties to be involved in view of the matter in question.
Without prejudice to the possibility of submitting a complaint, students are reminded that they may contact directly, in an informal manner, the Presidents of the Degree Programmes, to whom they may always turn for any problems they encounter during their university career.
Even in the case of informal discussions, anything reported to the Presidents will be treated with confidentiality and discretion, in order to protect the interests of the student.
Below is a list of the current Presidents of the degree programmes:
Of course, all students may also request a personal interview with the Dean of the School, Prof. Alessandro Simoni, by appointment to be arranged by writing to scuola(AT)giurisprudenza.unifi.it
Finally, students enrolled from the 2024/2025 academic year onwards will have the opportunity to contact their “orientation tutor”, whose name will be communicated to them individually.
The Orientation and Tutoring Service is always available to support students in their educational and professional careers, from their entry into the University to their first steps in the world of work.
