Course changes

Split and tripled courses and course changes between alphabetical groups

Some of the subjects taught in degree courses are divided into courses distinguished by the alphabetical letter of the students' surnames.

  1. Example: the course in Medieval and Modern History I is taught by Prof. Paolo Cappellini for students whose surname begins with a letter between A and D, by Prof. Stefano Mannoni for students whose surname begins with a letter between E and N, and by Prof. Bernardo Sordi for students whose surname begins with a letter between O and Z.

With regard to courses divided alphabetically by enrolment, it is possible, upon justified request, to transfer from one course to another.

For 15-credit courses held in the first and second semesters, transfers may be requested only at the beginning of the first semester.

The Commission appointed by Decree of the President of the School No. 4/2014 will decide within ten days of the deadline for the submission of applications. The transfer to another course is subject to actual attendance.

N.B. Students who wish to attend a compulsory course taught in English but are unable to do so due to overlapping timetables cannot attend other compulsory courses assigned to their alphabetical group. They may, however, automatically transfer to other courses (in a different alphabetical group) relating to the same subjects and which do not overlap with their timetable.

To do so, simply send an email to (scuola(AT)giurisprudenza.unifi.it) indicating the course in English that the student intends to attend and the course with which there is a time overlap.

The transfer to another course is, of course, subject to actual attendance of the course in English and the course affected by the transfer.

Academic year 2024/25

Second semester

The form for submitting course transfer requests by alphabetical order for the second semester is available at the link: https://websol.unifi.it/w3pascor and will be active from 27 January until midnight on 7 February 2025. Please note that for 15-credit courses held in the first and second semesters, transfers can only be requested at the beginning of the first semester.

All requests for course changes with reference to courses in the second semester of 2024/2025 have been accepted.

In particular, these are the following courses:

  • INSTITUTIONS OF ROMAN LAW
  • PHILOSOPHY OF LAW
  • ADMINISTRATIVE PROCEDURAL LAW
  • PRIVATE LAW I
  • CRIMINAL LAW I
  • EUROPEAN UNION LAW

Requests received for courses other than those listed above have not been considered because they refer to courses that began in the first semester.

Please note that course changes are subject to actual attendance; therefore, before the start of classes, the lists of students admitted to change courses will be communicated to the teachers concerned so that they can carry out the necessary checks.

First semester

All requests for course changes (except for the cases mentioned below) have been accepted, as the number of requests received for each course, net of offsets with outgoing requests, was less than or equal to 25.

Before the start of classes, the lists of students admitted to change courses will be communicated to the teachers concerned so that they can verify attendance.

For the transfers relating to the courses listed below, more than 25 requests were submitted for each course:

In accordance with Article 3 of the School Regulations on course changes, applications submitted by students enrolled in a year other than the one in which the course is taught have been excluded and (only for civil law and civil procedural law) requests have been accepted on the basis of the relevance of the reasons given.

REGULATIONS approved by the C.F. on 20 September 2012 and revised by the School Council on 16 July 2024.
