The development of tourism from the origins to the present day. Tourism phenomena will be analysed both from the point of view of the traveller and from the point of view of the host community. Emphasis will be placed on infrastrucures and on the related public policies.

The purpose of the final examination is to ascertain the acquisition of knowledge and skills through a 80-minute written test without the aid of notes or books. The written test consists of 2 questions (15 points each).
The questions for attending students will be based on the programme covered in class; the questions for NON-attending students will be based on the books and articles indicated in the section “Suggested readings”
