The course will provide the knowledge of pharmaceutical technology regarding the main pharmaceutical-technological operations and the preparation of the main pharmaceutical forms. The following formulations will be prepared: powders, capsules, solutions, suspensions and emulsions for oral use, ointments, pastes, creams and gels.

The course will provide the knowledge of pharmaceutical technology regarding the basic technological operations and the preparation of the main pharmaceutical dosage forms such as solid and liquid formulations, biphasic systems, colloidal systems, parenteral, ophthalmic, dermatological, and suppository preparations. Powders, papers, capsules, solutions, suspensions and emulsions for oral use, ointments, pastes, creams and gels will be prepared in the laboratory.

Laboratory practices (2 ECTS). Students must present a written report at the end of each formulation prepared in the laboratory.

The final exam consists of a two-hour written which, if passed, allows access to the oral test. The written examination contains: 2 exercizes, 2 prescriptions and 6 questions. The final grade is an average between the written and the oral and evaluation of laboratory practices. The exam is aimed at verifying the ability to organize the acquired knowledge in writing and orally, the ability to reason critically on
study carried out, in particular in the performance of numerical exercises and compilation of labels, the quality of the exposure and the use of a specialized lexicon. There will be 7 exams every year. Booking examination takes place via the booking system on-line from the website www.unifi.it
