The course deals with the theories and the methods of language teaching:
-The faculty of language as a specific property of humans.
-Spoken languages and non-verbal communication.
-The acquisition of language skills in L1 and L2: comprehension, production, reading, writing.
- Language disorders.
-Interaction between languages: transfer, mixed languages, bilingualism and disglossia.
-Language and communicative competence.

Learning Objectives
The course aims to provide students with the theoretical and methodological tools for the scientific analysis of human language. By examining the different levels of linguistic representation (phonetics, phonology, morphosyntax, semantics and pragmatics), the mechanisms of acquisition of both the native language(L1) and the second language (L2) will be illustrated and will determine some theoretical and methodological reflections on language teaching.
