Methods and tools for the study of the topography of the territory and the cities during the antiquity, with particular attention devoted not only to the historical and archaeological issues, but also to the protection of the historical heritage.

Learning Objectives
Equipping the students of the methodological grounds for the study of the ancient topography both concerning the historical and topographical issues and the archaeological protection of the territory
Prerequisites
Basic notions of Roman History and Latin language.
Teaching Methods
Lessons in classroom with slides and - if possible - visits on archaeological sites or institutions (Istituto Geografico Militare)

Type of Assessment
final oral examination. The knowledge of the basic methodology of the discipline and the ability to frame archaeological problems in a historical perspective will be assessed taking into account the various approaches - written and archaeological sources, aerial photography, ancient and modern cartography, ancient building technique.
Upon presentation of certification, students with disabilities, or with DSA, or in any case temporarily unable for health reasons to take the exam in the manner provided, may agree on an alternative exam mode with the teacher.
