The laboratory offers students who have previously studied Latin the opportunity to improve their knowledge of phonetics, historical grammar, prosody, and metrics, through the close reading of selected passages from Plautus, Catullus, Horace, and Seneca.
Latin texts will be provided by the teacher on a weekly basis.
Mandatory reading: A. Traina – G. Bernardi Perini, Propedeutica al latino universitario, Bologna, Pàtron 1998.
About prosody and metrics, students should also refer to L. Ceccarelli, Prosodia e metrica latina classica, Roma, Dante Alighieri, 2004 (2nd ed.), or, alternatively, to S. Boldrini, La prosodia e la metrica dei Romani, Roma, Nuova Italia Scientifica, 1992 – some parts will be made available by the teacher.
