Learning Objectives
The course aims to provide knowledge and develop skills related to forest road planning, design, construction and maintenance, forest products transportation and the assessment work efficiency in forest operation.
Students who successfully complete the course will have developed knowledge and skills related to: design, construction and maintenance of forest roads; transport logistics and forest work productivity. In particular, they will be able to: designing, and laying out and survey of the roadline; evaluate forest road projects; design of water, erosion and sediment control structures, in particular on steep terrain; understand the stress-strain effect of vehicle loads on road surface; behavior and effects of heavy vehicles on forest roads and possible mitigation effects of road design; best practices for the containment and mitigation of environmental impacts; selection of transport methods in relation to product characteristics the delivering distances; work cycles analysis, determination of work productivity, identification of bottlenecks and possible actions to improve work efficiency.
Prerequisites

Teaching tools: Lessons supported by slides and videoprojector. Layout, survey and design of forest roads.
These information may change in reltion with the Covid-19 emergency
Type of Assessment
Written test and interview. The written exam includes exercises on the forest road design of forest roads and multiple choice or open-ended tests. The test evaluation criteria are: number of correct answers in the tests and correctness / degree of completeness of the road design exercises. The interview assessment criteria include: acquisition of appropriate terminology; knowledge acquired about the discussed topics; ability to connect the different topics included in the course.
If the covid-19 emergency rules will change the examination method could be changed
