Knowing and recognizing the main concepts, theoretical approaches and tools elaborated in the field of psychology of guidance and career counseling to favor career construction and the construction of professional / personal identity. Knowing how to analyze setting, scripts, scenarios, and solutions for career construction. Choosing methodological approaches and tools (analysis and intervention) on the basis of the specific context characteristics. Developing specific relational skills, also in contexts adequate for team work, through interaction, negotiation, simulation, decision-making, and production in small groups on specific related issues, chosen by each group.
Making judgements
Students will be invited to reflect on the subjects matter of the course, to argue by developing a critical attitude anchored to scientific bases, actively and constructively participating in lessons, group work and class discussions.

Learning a vocabulary pertinent to the subject of study and the use of a technical language to communicate and discuss the studied concepts. Practicing communication and relational skills even in small group context, particularly in the processes of collaboration, negotiation, simulation, decision-making and production, simulation.

Frontal lessons with the use of audiovisual devices; lectures with national / international experts on specific topics linked to the program; reading and critical discussion on scientific research and intervention articles, also in contexts of small group.
Applying knowledge and understanding
Exercises, simulation, group activities and elaboration of the students.
Making judgments
Seminar activities and critical in-depth analysis in class, group discussion on specific topics that are parts from the exam program on the basis of different sources of information.

The program of “Psychology of guidance and career counseling” aims to offer the student an introduction to the most recent theories and research in the field of psychology of guidance and career counseling to address basic issues of the discipline and learn principles of design and implementation of interventions in this field. The course is divided into two parts. The first part introduce the characteristics of current world of work, guidance in a period of continuous transitions and main interventions for career construction: Career Construction Theory, Self and Identity construction, narrative intervention and dialogue counseling. The structure and application of the Career Construction Interview are presented: career construction assessment, assessment of possible solutions, settings, scripts and scenarios for career construction, counseling for career construction, and facilitation of the passage from intention to action. The second part introduces and deepens other recent basic theories for guidance and career counseling and relative interventions: Self and Life Construction Theory, Psychology of Working Theory, Relational Theory of Working as theoretical-operational references to psychology of guidance and career construction in the 21st century. The topic of professional values will be introduced and the Professional Values Scale will be presented, on which the students will also work within the "Psychological Test" module of Prof. Caterina Primi.
The issues of accountability, evaluation of the effectiveness of guidance and career counseling interventions in the 21st century will be studied in depth. New tools for the evaluation of the effectiveness of the interventions will be presented and a quali-quanti perspective regarding the effectiveness evaluation will be introduced.
