Course Content
The course will provide guidance on a historical-pedagogical pathway in childhood history, focusing on family dynamics and social relationships involving children and girls throughout the ages, with particular reference to contemporaryity. The main topics of current social complexity will be reflected in the perspective of the child's living conditions in the world and the implementation of its specific rights

Learning Objectives
The course aims to contribute to the achievement of the following training objectives, with reference to Dublin descriptors:
Knowledge and understanding: know how to interpret educational
contexts by meeting the emerging needs in terms of demand for education, with particular reference to childhood and preadolescence; To be able to exercise reflection on the experience experienced, to know how to think in the way, and to prefigure possible areas of intervention in childhood educational and training contexts; Know how to intervene in
relational dynamics, know how to recognize individual and cultural
specificities, know the dynamics of interpersonal communication and manage these dynamics in a positive way in relation to contexts
characterized by the presence of children.
Making judgements: knowing to observe and interpret the life and
education contexts of childhood and preadolescence, through the pedagogical perspective; Knowing how to place your professional act in a horizon of values and meanings, whose center is represented by the dignity and promotion of the human person of the child, his / her fundamental rights and his / her skills and needs.
Communication skills: know how to make proposals, formulate and argue, in oral or written form; Knowing to take part in shared projects, in the light of group work.
Learning skills: read, understand and select critically texts and
documents in the field of the childhood sciences and know how to relate
it to educational and training contexts.
Prerequisites
Knowledge of the main pedagogical trends of the twentieth century; Basic knowledge in a historical context with particular reference to the history of the twentieth century; Adequate understanding of university level text; Basic vocabulary of pedagogical and sociological scope; Basic computer skills

Frontal Lessons, Presentations and Speech in ppt, Teaching Materials and In-depth Studies on the Moodle Platform. Workshop on qualitative research methods: semistructured narrative interview.

The 2018-2019 program is valid up to April 2020.
Type of Assessment
Programme and examination methods are the same for attending and non-attending students: the exam is conducted in written form and consists of a open questions test on the books indicated in the programme.
The activities carried out by the students during the course (laboratory, questionnaire) are intended as ongoing verification; all activities are optional; the outcomes allow to lighten the study program for the final interview.

A new childhood culture centered on the rights of children has been affirming in the course of the twentieth century, to become the horizon of meaning for any educational project within the democratic society. The course will provide guidance on a historical-pedagogical pathway in childhood history, focusing on family dynamics and social relationships involving children and girls throughout the ages, with particular reference to contemporaryity. The main issues of current social complexity will be reflected in the perspective of the child's living conditions in the world and the implementation of its specific rights. Topics that will be treated with particular reference to the professionalism of the early childhood teacher.
