The Italian language will be used in the first lessons. The rest of the course will be held in Spanish.
Course Content
The course will focus on the functioning of the language in context and on the different axes that are at play in the grammar and the lexicon. Besides, the course will focus on the main phonetic, grammatical, functional and lexical aspects, with examples from the language of the everyday life.

Learning Objectives
The course aims at:
a) helping the student to achieve the communicative competence of the B1 level in the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages;
b) stimulating the student to critically reflect on the functioning of the Spanish language and on some key points of its acquisition.
At the end of the course students must have a good knowledge of the Spanish language in its four skills (written and oral comprehension, written and oral production) and be able to use it in a daily frame.
Prerequisites
NOT KNOWLEDGE OF SPANISH LANGUAGE IS REQUIRED. THE MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS ARE:
A) A GOOD KNOWLEDGE OF ITALIAN LANGUAGE;
B) ANY EXPERIENCE OF A STUDY OF A FOREIGN LANGUAGE;
C) THE KNOWLEDGE OF THE BASIC TERMINOLOGY OF GRAMMATICAL ANALYSIS;
D) THE CAPACITY TO READ AND CONSULT THE GRAMMATICS AND DICTIONARIES.
Teaching Methods
The course is divided into three closely related parts:
- systematic analysis of the language in its phonetic and intonational aspects, morphosyntactic, notional-functional and lexical with particular attention to the Italian-Spanish contrastive problems. - use of the language in natural contexts (comprehension and written and oral expression).
- guided self-learning.
These areas have been planned globally and are not alternatives. Each of them presupposes the work done in the others.
The institutional course will be organized in two modules:
Module A: Grammar and reflection on the functioning of the language;
Module B: Practical application of module A and self-learning.
Module A takes place with classroom lectures and e-learning (commitment for the studente: 48-hour). For the practical study of the language, 80 hours of activities in the classroom and language labs with native-speaker language experts and 40 hours of self-teaching activity guided by the chair are provided.
Attendance mode: attendance at the course and practical classroom is decisive. Students who can not attend classes for serious reasons must agree with the teacher supplementary educational activities.

Type of Assessment
In order to take the module A test, is compulsory to pass module B. The exam of module B consists of written and oral comprehension tests and written and oral production in order to assess the awareness and the ability of self-correction. The module A test is about the grammatical deepening, the vocabulary and the general culture notions on the Hispanic world.
