Course Content
The course is aimed at explaining the main concepts of mechanics: kinematics and dynamics of point masses, systems of point masses, rigid bodies, fluids. Several applications will be discussed, with reference to each topic covered within the course.

Learning Objectives
The course is aimed at explaining the main concepts of mechanics: kinematics and dynamics of point masses, systems of point masses, rigid bodies, fluids. Several applications will be discussed, with reference to each topic covered within the course.

Algebra and basic mathematics as taught at high school.

Kinematics of point like masses. Motion in one and two dimensions. Trajectories. Acceleration of gravity. Kinematic of rigid bodies. Kinematic in non inertial frames. Dynamics of point like masses. Friction. Elastic forces. Constrained dynamics. Pendulum and small oscillations. Conservative forces. Energy. Elastic and inelastic collisions. Dynamics of systems of point like particles. The concept of center of mass. Angular momentum. The equation of motions. Koenig's theorems.
