This course is designed to teach students fundamental skills in psychological assessment with an emphasis on personality and psychopathology assessment. The practical focus of this course is on learning to administer and interpret several clinical assessment tools, with a strong emphasis on the new version of the MMPI, the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory-2-Restructured Form (MMPI-2-RF) - the most frequently used psychological test instrument in clinical practice.

By the end of the course, it is expected that students will attain beginning autonomy with
the following:
1. Competent administration, scoring, and interpretation of the MMPI scales, and selected cognitive functioning and personality measures
2. Greater awareness of professional and ethical issues related to the practice of psychological assessment.
3. Be able to integrate various sources of client data, including background information, interview, and psychological test data. Students should be able to organize and integrate this information in a written report.
4. Ability to communicate the results of a psychological assessment orally and in writing.
Moreover, it is expected that students will:
1. Be familiar with issues surrounding important controversies related to aspects of the field, such as intelligence and projective testing.
2. Know the limits of and dangers inherent in psychological measurement.

Students are expected to have foundations in the basic psychometric concepts and formulas, and be able to evaluate the psychometric characteristics of psychological tests.

Applying knowledge and understanding During the course, exercises will be held so that students will have the opportunities of showing their progressive learning.

Communication skills. During examination, the technical correctness of used language and also the conceptual clearness in the description of concept and theories will be evaluated.
Learning skills During examination, the evaluation will take in account the ability to draw connections and links between concepts and theories not only within the specific course, but also between the course and concepts and theories pertinent to other preceding courses attended by students.

This course is designed to teach students fundamental skills in psychological assessment with an emphasis on personality and psychopathology assessment. The practical focus of this course is on learning to administer and interpret several clinical assessment tools, with a strong emphasis on the new version of the MMPI, the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory-2-Restructured Form (MMPI-2-RF) - the most frequently used psychological test instrument in clinical practice. Selected cognitive functioning (e.g., the Cognitive Assessment System) and personality measures (e.g. the Eysenck Personality Inventory) will be also discussed. Students will be given opportunities to practice skills in the psychological assessment field such as questionnaires administration, scoring and interpretation. Emphasis will also be placed on report writing as an important part of learning.
Benefits, and limitations of psychological testing in the clinical field will be also discussed.
