During the course, the students will study linguistic forms useful in the context of tourism; specific Chinese vocabulary related to the Italian artistic and cultural heritage; they will also be introduced to intercultural practice aimed at a successful tourist reception.

Learning Objectives
1) (Knowlegde and understanding) The course is aimed at providing a general knowledge of the Chinese language of tourism and of the lexicon linked to the Italian artistic and cultural heritage;
2) (Applying knowledge and understanding) At the end of the course the studenti s able to use expressions of common use in the working context linked to tourism and s/he is able to manage a small group of Chinese tourists visiting Italy, by communicating in Chinese with them.
3) (Making judgements) At the end of the course the student is able to autonomously and originally formulate descriptions and analysis on and about the Italian artistic and cultural heritage, with the specific purpose of receiving Chinese tourists in Italy.
4) (Communication skills) At the end of the course the student is able to communicate in standard Chinese in a fluent and appropriate manner in the most typical contexts of Chinese tourism in Italy.
5) (Learning skills) At the end of the course the student is able to use specific database, specialized materials and on line resources for the further acquisition of lexicon of the Italian cultural and artistic heritage in standard Chinese.
Prerequisites
This course is intended for students who have a sound intermediate competence of Standard Chinese (HSK 4/5) and wish to study the language for specific purposes. The
Teaching Methods
The course consists in 15 frontal lessons, individual exercise and a variable number of collateral activities (visits to exhibitions, screenings, participation in seminars and conferences)

Type of Assessment
The exam consists of a written test, that, if passed, allows the student to have access to the oral test. The student who passes the written test must take the oral test in the same session, as written and oral tests are two parts of the same exam. The written test consists in the translation from Chinese to Italian of a Chinese text taken from a Chinese tour guide book about Italy. The oral test consists in reading, translating and commenting one of the texts featured in the manual used during the course.
The exam is aimed at ascertaining:
- The knowledge of the lexicon of Italian cultural and artistic heritage in Chinese
- The competence in comprehending and managing the most frequent situations in the context of Chinese tourism in Italy
- The skill of communicating in Chinese language in the most frequent situations in the context of Chinese tourism to Italy
