The course tends to give an overview of the Roman private law and its institutions.

Besides a general vision of Roman private law, its bodies of rules, its origins and development, the course is meant to offer insights about the creative break introduced by the «interpretatio» of medieval lawyers as a key moment for an understanding of the historical dimension of law.
