Learning Objectives
The aim is to educate students about neurodevelopmental disorders including deficit of motor and cognitive functions with particular emphasis on those disorders manifesting before age 3 years;the first lesson is dedicated to review the normal motor and cognitive developments in neonates, infants and children.

Course program
The child neurology and psychiatric course will include the following teachings:
• Intellectual disability: definition, clinical manifestations, etiologies, outcome and treatments.
• Language disorders including impaired language comprehension or involving language production or a combination of both or disorders affecting the fluency such as the stutter
• Autism and autistic spectrum disorders: definitions, clinical manifestations, etiology and review of Asperger and Rett syndromes both included in the autistic spectrum disorders. The classification and diagnostic criteria of autism are those listed in the DSM5 manual.
• Attention deficit disorders (or ADHD) : clinical manifestations and treatment
• Learning disabilities with particular emphasis on the diagnostic criteria, the classification of learning disabilities. Review of definition and manifestations of dyslexia, dysgraphia and dyscalculia.
• Seizures and epilepsy in neonates, infants and children including benign and severe forms.
• Movement disorders: review of the different subtypes based on age at onset (neonatal, infancy or childhood).
• Review of the definition and manifestations of paroxysmal non-epileptic events including tics, stereotypies, shuddering, tonic upgaze and breath-holding spells.
• Sleep and sleep disorders in children: definition of sleep and its stages, review of common sleep disorders such as sleep-talking, sleep-walking and night terrors.
