The course introduces to the family pedagogy, pointing out its theoretical profile and its areas of intervention. also examines the parenting programs in Italy with a look at the European scene. finally shows some intervention strategies in Italy and other European countries. Particular attention will be devoted to the promotion of family education in educational services for young children.

The course of Pedagogy of the family, through a social-historical reconnaissance, tries to reconstruct a comprehensive framework "on the health status" of one of the most important institutions of all time: the family. Through the study of some classical authors such as Rousseau, Marx and Engels, until you get to contemporary scholars, as Chiara Saraceno, students will be introduced to the most significant issues linked to family problems today. It will be proposed readings, taken from texts and authors including (and not) in study essays aimed examination, until the most recent arguments given in Cirinnà Law. Students will be introduced to new languages and new terms that define the family: polymorphic, enlarged, rebuilt, etc ... referring to the educational practices that should support, from several points of view, the success of the educational project that supports and orients them.
The main objective of the course is to sensitize the younger generation, and especially the future educators, increasingly complex idea of the family and be able to activate pathways and projects of good practices.

24 hours of classroom teaching and 12 hours of on-line teaching. During teaching hours, students will be asked to collaborate actively in the construction of the lessons. The course includes readings from texts of pedagogy and education, and the subsequent discussion and debate. The hours of on-line teaching provide for a deepening, through commented verbally slide, the issues concerning the pedagogy of the family and educational categories. It is expected the provision of an intermediate test, through the platform, to monitor the knowledge acquired by students.

The final exam will be written. During the course it will be done an online test through the Moodle platform to check the progress of students' knowledge especially with regard to the book "Dimensions of social pedagogy". The results of the interim tests will not affect the final grade of the student.

Will be carried out mid-term tests through thematic discussions with the elaboration - individually or in small groups - of short texts whose result is average with that of the final assessment. Final assessment must be in written form through a questionnaire with open and closed answers on the texts in the syllabus and materials presented in the classroom. In each exam session the student will have 60 minutes to answer questions.
