The school, through the interpretation of authors who write to the children and the practice of reading at school will be topics of discussion during the course. Stories, classic and contemporary short novels for children deal with existential problems related to schools, but also represent a motivation to the formation of identity and in training to read.

Knowledge and understanding: knowledge and understanding the historical and institutional evolution of the children’s literature; knowledge of contemporary fiction for children, authors, the most significant works, themes and language.
Applying knowledge and understand: Knowledge of methodological skills in reading.
Making the judgment: develop, through the knowledge of the current publishing production for children, capacity of critical-interpretatation in the children’s literature.
Communication skills: Knowing and using the disciplinary lexicon.
Learning ability: Knowing how to build an autonomous path of reading and topics.

Interest in the subject; previous readings of classics from children's
literature; any experience of teaching reading; knowledges of the world
of school and education.

Class lessons; exercises (writing reviews); thematic workshops and
reading 0-6 books; films thematically related to children's.

The examination will be oral and written form.
The written exam consists of a test with closed and open answers about the books in the syllabus.
The examination procedures are the same for attending and non-attending students.
