The course aims to achieve basic knowledge of law and private process in Rome, according to two lines of work: a tale of the Roman legal thought and an examination of the forms with which the Roman jurists, is represented ius (law). The student will be introduced to the knowledge of the fundamental institutions and, in particular, bonds, shares and through the study of the trial.

Besides a general vision of Roman private law, its bodies of rules, its origins and development, the course is meant to offer insights about the creative break introduced by the «interpretatio» of medieval lawyers as a key moment for an understanding of the historical dimension of law.

The course aims to provide an overview of the Roman Private Law and its relevant institutions, formation and development. In particular, the program includes: Roman Private Law and its source, subjiect of law, legal acts and facts, property, possession, obligations, family law, inheritance law and donations, civil process.

The course is aimed to a general knowledge of Roman private law, with an historical approach. Will be studied the different procedures for solving disputes, to come up then to the institutes of civil law: law of penrsons and family, successions, property and other related rights, and obligations and contracts. Every topic will be studied in psecial relation with its evolution, in connection with the development of the global Roman juridical system.
